bio
In the Spring of 2015, Aya and Tano embarked on a journey to Eastern and Southern Europe in search for music. With the songs they collected on their travels, they started to build a repertoire of traditional Italian, Macedonian, Albanian, Greek, Turkish and Romani music. Both musicians have a long history with Balkan and Near Eastern music; Aya started her Greek violin studies at age 7, and Tano began playing doumbek, a Near Eastern percussion instrument, at age 6. In addition, Aya and Tano both have a passion for Pop music. At age 18 Tano released a self-produced Pop album, and Aya’s 2018 debut EP was featured on music blogs and online newspapers such as Atwood Magazine and the East Bay Express. In 2016 they performed a set of original and standard love songs for a wedding ceremony, and since have built a Pop repertoire together.
